I was recently affected by the Energy Saver bug found in Workgroup Manager, where by this particular MCX manifest stops preferences applying on a users first login to a machine. For example, in my case a user would log in to a machine and only the Dock would apply – almost nothing else! If they then logged out and then back in again, everything would apply as expected! Here’s the low down…
I recently wrote an article on how to create a script to empty the Trash when an Active Directory user logged out of a client computer. This required us to mess around with the trust relationship a little between the client computer and the server. Now with the use of the ‘ManagedClient.app’ and ‘Folder Redirections’ we don’t have to worry about that anymore!
Within this guide we’ll take a look at setting up a Mac OS X 10.6 server from scratch, and then configuring Server Admin services Open Directory, AFP and NetBoot to use DeployStudio. In a further post we’ll take a look at image creation and deployment. But first, let’s get setup!
